LORD HOWE ISLAND STICK INSECT
MELBOURNE ZOO

A play-based adventure space profiles Melbourne Zoo’s work to save the endangered Lord Howe Island Stick Insect. Audio visual and graphic content is integrated into stylised geographic forms and a giant stick insect sculpture lays her eggs in the sand, creating a fun, engaging focal point for children and families. The display won Best Interpretive Project Under $150,000 at the 2016 Interpretation Australia Awards.

Person Place Thing: Giant foundry-cast aluminium Lord Howe Island Stick Insect (with cast concrete eggs), all interpretive graphics.
